Meet Amy

Care That Feels Personal

Hi, I’m Amy Cowart, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 25 years of healthcare experience. I provide evidence-based psychiatric medication management for adults throughout Texas through secure telehealth, with limited in-person appointments available in Hamilton.

Mental health care should feel personal—not rushed. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you feel heard, respected, and confident in your care. Together, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan that fits your goals, your lifestyle, and your life.

My Approach to Care

I believe mental health care should feel thoughtful, collaborative, and personalized. I take time to understand what you’re experiencing, including your symptoms, life circumstances, treatment history, and goals. My approach is warm and collaborative, with the goal of helping you feel heard, informed, and actively involved in your care.

I provide evidence-based psychiatric medication management while paying close attention to how you respond to treatment, including your symptoms, side effects, health history, lifestyle, and goals. Medication management is an ongoing conversation, and I take time to explain options, answer questions, and make adjustments when needed.

Experience & Professional Background

With more than 25 years of healthcare experience, I bring decades of clinical knowledge to each patient relationship. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults and older adults.

My education includes a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Walden University and a Master’s in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. I am licensed in Texas and provide care through secure telehealth throughout the state, with limited in-person appointments available in Hamilton.

Areas of Focus

My practice supports adults experiencing concerns including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, stress, panic disorders, mood changes, sleep concerns, anger management, trauma, and life transitions.

Every person’s experience is different, which is why care is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all. Together, we can discuss what you’re experiencing and develop a treatment approach based on your individual needs, goals, and circumstances.

What You Can Expect

During your first session, I take time to understand what has been going on for you, including your current symptoms, health history, previous treatment, medications, and what you hope will improve. You do not need to have everything figured out before your appointment.

My goal is for you to leave each appointment understanding your treatment and your next steps. If medication is part of your treatment plan, I’ll explain what it is for, what to expect, and possible side effects so you can make informed decisions about your care.
